Man.

I still get chills when I think about the fact that this whole thing started with some friends just texting. DBG has been up for less than a week and it has already grown exponentially more than I could have ever dreamed.

But y'all, we can't stop now. We have big plans, big dreams. We're moving, and we want you to get on the train and grab a passenger or two to ride.

The world has shown us over and over again that we are not worth the love, attention, security, or peace that white privilege affords others. But, I refuse to accept that. I refuse to accept pregnant mothers being killed when she called for protection. I refuse to accept seeing people on my Facebook Timeline say "Please don't riot" when another black man has been shot down. I refuse to accept the status quo.

DBG is not here to solve those problems though. Sometimes, and it may sound selfish, sometimes we just need a place for us. We need a space to be real with ourselves and each other, we need a space to breathe. That's why DBG is here.

Yes, we will talk about the rough times, because #staywoke. But, we also want you to feel free here - safe here. This virtual safe space is for Black Girls all over the world to find themselves, as many times as you need to.

Dear Black Girl, the world is watching, but their stares can't stop you.
